Ebenezer Storer

Ebenezer Storer (1729-1807) was a prominent Boston philanthropist and merchant. His business was called Ebenezer Storer and Son. He graduated from Harvard in 1747 and served as that institution’s treasurer from 1777 until his death. He was active in Boston public life. In addition to serving as an Overseer of the Poor he was also at various times a warden and selectmen. Storer was a founder and the first treasurer of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as well as a charter member and treasurer for 17 years of the Society for Propagating the Gospel in North America.
